First impression
What a very strong chemical smell! What a well constructed rash guard!
Construction
Out of the bag the rash guard has a very very strong chemical smell but after a quick wash that soon went away. The build quality of this new brand’s rash guard is excellent. It’s up there with my favourite rash guard of all time by Rupture. Perfect flat-lock stitching across all areas and the material panel setup is also great. You know how I complained about a few rash guards panel and stitching placement causing irritation etc, well there are none of these on the POSS rash guard.
Other important areas are the cuffs and neck line and again POSS have a solid double stitched construction. The material they have used for their seams is also great. With Under Armour stitching I always found that quite irritating but the thread POSS used is again top notch.
Aesthetics
With a simple logo on the chest and a medium sized flaming logo on the back this could be classed the happy medium between the plain and over the top designs out there. The problem with the graphics is their printing method used. This style of printing is fine on t-shirts but on a rash guard that is by design meant to stretch and flex is never a good thing. The chest logo is such a size that it will stay on for a longer period of use however after a number of sessions and washes the back print is starting to peel already which is very disappointing in the ages of all these sublimated rash guards.
Fit & In Action
Size wise I went as always for a medium and it fits great. Maybe the body could do with a bit of extra material length but it’s not to bad compared to Inspirit and RVDDW rash guards.
You know how I complained about a few rash guards panel and stitching placement well there are none of these on the POSS rash guard. The side panel runs all the way up the side of your body and runs right along the bottom of the arm. This means the seems are placed along parts of the body that don’t cause the most friction and which means you never get that irritating feeling while you training.
The neck for me at least is a happy compromise between the high neck types of Atama and the lower cuts of Nogi rash guards. So you feel a bit more protected but you don’t get that tight feeling…….until of course someone is actually choking you!
The material is also very good for keeping your body at a normal temperature so you could wear this both in cold and hot environments.
Pros
+Great construction and material used
+Could say subtle styling.
+Good for both cold and hot days.
Cons
-Printing needs improving for me its either sublimated or nothing
Summary
For POSS who are a new company on the scene this is a great start. If they can improve their printing method the rash guard would be pretty much perfect.
